Why Clay
Bypasses Language
Clay allows expression without needing words, making it ideal for children, neurodivergent especially, or adults who struggle to articulate feelings.
Externalising Inner Experience
Creating something tangible helps children see and relate to their internal world from the outside. This distance makes reflection safer and allows us to explore meaning together without overwhelming intensity.
Nervous System Regulation
Clay engages touch, pressure, and rhythm, which activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Kneading, rolling, or smoothing clay can lower arousal, reduce anxiety, and help children feel grounded in their bodies—especially useful for trauma, attachment work, and emotional overwhelm.
Atachment and Relational Repair
Clay can become a shared medium: turn-taking, mirroring and co-regulation
reinforce secure attachment patterns.
Emotional Expression
Clay can hold intense emotions safely (anger, fear, sadness), be smashed, reshaped, repaired, or contained.
This mirrors emotional processes: destruction, integration, and repair.
Integrates Body Mind and Emotions
Unlike purely verbal therapy, clay engages the whole system: Hands (body) + Sensation (emotion) + Meaning-making (mind).
This integration supports deeper and more lasting therapeutic change.
Sense of Agency and Mastery
Clay is responsive and forgiving. Clients can change it, control it, or start over, which builds: self-efficacy, choice and autonomy, corrective emotional experiences, especially for those with histories of helplessness.
Symbolic Transformation
Clay naturally invites metaphor: Cracks, repairs, shapes, containers, boundaries. Symbolic work helps children explore identity, resilience, loss, and growth in a non-threatening way.

Healing Journeys
Gemma, parent London
— yoga inspired mentoring
Samara has worked with my six year old daughter who has an ASD diagnosis for the last 18 month and my little one finds her calming. Samara has managed to get Paige to participate in activities. I have every confidence in Samara as a teacher and would highly recommend her to the other parents. She has been so supportive because; although these sessions are for my daughter, she explains things to me and I have used some of her techniques at home which I feel has been rewarding for both my daughter and I.

— children’s yoga class
All the kids loved it. I asked them at the end what was their favourite thing today and they all chose yoga. Roma even said that she wanted to become a yoga teacher and asked if that was your career and what she needed to do to become a yoga teacher. She said that you have been very nice and wanted you to come again next week. I was extremely surprised about her being so excited about something. This is the first time she actually loved an activity!
Also, all the staff said that the session had been very funny and appropriated to their needs.
Stella, client London
— DreamBirth Imagery
I have been practising imagery and visualisation with Samara for the last four years .
Samara’s work supported me through very difficult times including a miscarriage at the beginning of the second trimester which was a deeply painful experience. This practice has had a profound effect on my ability to process and move on from this trauma.
Imagery has also assisted me in making important decisions and has rejuvenated me in times of stress and anxiety and has brought me great joy over the years.
Samara is a gifted healer and holder of safe space. She shows up in her entirety with a pure intension to support and serve.
Thank you for all that you do and all that you are.
